Two year polytechnic vocational training for 30 high school graduates who cannot afford the Rs. 15,000 yearly
tuition, for a total of $6000. This gives specific children a chance to break out of the cycle of poverty.
OPEN is partnering with IGNITE in this effort. IGNITE visits high schools
right after exam results are announced, and gets lists of poor students who have the marks for polytechnic
education but can't afford it. One such example is Rajkumar, who had 1018/1200 in his 12th board
exam. His Electronics and Communication Engineering diploma was funded by IGNITE, and he is now earning Rs. 5000 per month.
